Starting Over – Taking the Train to Middlemarch

Thanks so much for having me to visit today to talk about Scarlet Woman and the other books in my Middlemarch Mates series.

Scarlet Woman is about starting over and taking chances. It’s also about family, but that’s another blog post entirely. Emily Scarlet has come through a traumatic period in her life, and she’s ready for a new beginning. For Emily, starting over comes in the form of a train ride to Middlemarch and the Middlemarch Single’s Ball.

The train trip from Dunedin in New Zealand to the small country town of Middlemarch is a real one. The ride is a scenic one that goes via Taieri Gorge, across iron viaducts and through tunnels carved by hand more than one hundred years ago before the train winds its way into the Middlemarch station.

Although I’ve visited the real town of Middlemarch twice, I’ve never had the opportunity to ride on the Taieri Gorge Railway. Until this year. At the end of February my husband and I are taking a trip on the train, so we’ll be able to cross this off our bucket list. We’re looking forward to the experience, and I’ll be taking my camera to record the event with many, many photos.

Back to Emily and her baby steps into a new future. She updates her look, buys a sexy red dress and drags her best friend/ex-sister-in-law off to the Single’s Ball with the express intention of finding a man for one night of fun. What she gets is much more—the start of an adventure that lasted twelve books since she’s a reoccurring character in the Middlemarch series.
